The old-timers refer to the town of Black Mountain as “The front porch of western North Carolina.”
The Village of Cheshire is located in Black Mountain, NC. a quaint mountain town just 15 minutes east of Asheville, NC. with a total population of around 8,000 residents—and the Village of Cheshire has become an integral part of the lifestyle here.
Old-timers refer to Black Mountain as the “Front Porch of Western North Carolina” and the Village of Cheshire has taken that idea and woven it into our mission. Large porches are a staple of our design—we believe that our porches provide a transitional space that is neither private nor public, a space that is indoor and outdoor, a place of invitation, a place of conversation, a place of meeting, a place to engage… a platform that encourages a connected community. And we see it working each and every day as we watch our residents spend time with each other.
Western North Carolina enjoys four distinct seasons and mild weather throughout the year, so, you’ll have more days to explore Black Mountain’s miles of hiking trails, 40+ shops, the 60+ restaurants, and 3 breweries. And after you have explored all that…hop over to Asheville and you may never run out of things to do!
